Spring Blooms, New Starts a Few finishes and Gifts

I am always trying to get some good photos and they usually escape me, but I think I managed to capture a few good spring blooms that I will have through out the post.

 A few weeks back I received a wonderful gift from Nicola -Stitcher Extraordinaire
It was Ann Medd a sampler that I have wanted to stitch for years, but always talked myself out of so now I have no excuse and I am very glad of it.  I'm gathering together supplies so it will soon be a new start!

While I'm sure that I do not get done as much as many of you, I did manage a few finishes this last month.

At the Nashville Needlework Market in March La D Da had this wonderful needle/floss keep as a kit.

Even though I was in La D Da's booth 3 or 4 times I did not even see it, I don't know what I was doing, any way Jean saved the day by seeing and buying it.

Now you ask why do I have three????

Well you see Jean stitched hers and then asked if I would do the finishing she would stitch me one, so of course.... The third one I stitched for Candi just because.

Just a note the stitching goes faster then the finishing, but one without the other is just not the same.

 We have a sweet new addition to the house, Cissy.  I think I might have a problem with collecting cute kitties what do you think?

I saw this antique for sale on ebay and I wanted it so bad, but I was paying some bills off so I just quit watching the bidding as it hurt to much. 

Then a month or so later the pattern was charted so I think that I got the best end of that deal, now to find the right frame.

Time keeps on Slipping

I just don't know where time goes....

First off have you ordered Stacy's new book???

Well what are you waiting for Stacy has signed copies for sale, or ask you local needlework shop if they will order one up!

On the stitching front I have finished The Huntsman!

Lots and lots of stitches, but all worth it.

 So while I was trying to decide what project to stitch next, I picked up a quick stitch by La D Da, some great funky birds just perfect for the spring when your stitching by the open window and can hear all the real birds chirruping away.

I also finished a birthday present (a tad late) for Nicola of the Scarlet Letter Year Stitch along.

So with the permission of Marsha owner of The Scarlet Letter I graphed her logo and made it into a project bag!  This graph will be available to all if I can figure out how to put a PDF file on blogger.

If anyone knows how to post PDF files please let me know.

Bird Watching

BIRD WATCHING

A nice day, an open window perfect for bird watching!

Baby and Newbe like to bird watch together maybe so they can compare notes or feel like together they can take on the big birds!

Like this large woodpecker that would give these two tiny cats a run for their money. 

Must be all those giant grubs that are living in this tree stump that gave Woody a leg up on the cats.

So while cats are bird watching I have been stitching on the Huntsman and have made some progress since last post.  The grass has really intensified the colors and I'm loving the look.  Not much more to go, but I'm already wondering what to work on next... A new start or a finish of one of the bazillion WIP stashed around the house.  If only I could train the cats to stitch then we would see some progress.

Well I had better get back to it. 

Oh just a note, if you stash your WIP all over the house it doesn't look like you have so many, just saying.

Wins, Market and Huntsmen!

These arrived in the mail this week and what wonderful thread keeps they are.

I so wish I could take a picture that would capture the fine workmanship, but since that seems to elude me you have to take my word that they are divine!  One of the great things is that you can own your own because Marly from Samplers and Santas has them for sale!!!!!

 I know they are great to hold your threads for a project, but I was thinking that they look pretty good hanging above this sampler.

I have been pretty busy these last few week, and I realized  that I have not had a chance to even blog about the Nashville Market.  I had a great time and managed to get so excited about seeing all the new designs all stitched up and displayed to perfection that I couldn't even get to sleep each night.  

 I got to work in Stacy Nash's booth and must say that here is one gal that can take an empty room and turn it into an awesome gallery.  Between Samplers, Flowers and wonderful props I was tempted to ask her to come fix my poor old home!

I did get to meet up with wonderful friends, but I'm the worst with the camera so I only have the above picture with Niky from Nicky's Creations and Stacy.

Spring at Hollyberry Farm and Anna Bradley

Keep your eye out for Stacy's up coming book it will include all of the projects that are in the above picture.  I can hardly wait!!

This is the antique sampler that she based the book on.

We have all seen Butternut Tavern, but don't we need the lovely wire basket and cotton to display it in our own home???  I know I'm looking for one!

I love cats and this Needlework trio called

Cat and Mouse is just to cute. 

My contribution to Cat and Mouse were some Cat scissor fobs.

These were a fun little prim project that keep your scissors close to hand.

Aside from market I have been stitching in Nicola's Scarlet Letter Stitch along, and they were asking where do you stitch?

This is were you find me every evening, do you think I have enough lamps?

I even included my quilt that I wrap up in while stitching, one can never be to comfortable.

Here is the Huntsman that I'm stitching for the Stitch along, you can tell I have been a little side tracked as I have not made much progress since my last picture.

A quick kitty up date. 

This is Baby also known as Baby Face.

She is getting quite big and is a sweet cat indeed, she loves to play so after loosing Koo Kat we thought we would get her a play mate. 

And here she is, I have been calling her Newbe, but that may change as we get to know her better.

As for a playmate for Baby Face well... Newbe might not have time to play, but she sure loves to cuddle.

 First I must apologize for my poor pictures, there must be more to point and shoot.

I finished in December, but am just now getting pictures up.

It is stitched in the called for silk and wool, but I changed the linen to a greyish distressed linen from R & R did not write down the name.

 I also have finished two Scarlet Letter Samplers that were begun who knows when.

Again the photo does not do this sampler justice, I think framing it will allow more of the detail to show up.

When I once again picked up this sampler last week there was not much left to finish.

I recommend not saving the harder bits till the last, not because they are hard, but because I become impatient to finish and find that I want to rush through it.

If you look this one up on the website you will find that mine does not look exactly like it...

The kit did not contain enough of the gold silk and again due to impatience to finish I added the red in its place.  I'm still trying to decide if I like it, but its over one and I think its here to stay.

I'm planing for a different finish for this one so stay tuned for that update.
