This is what I have been doing this weekend. Too hot to be outside so why not do some finishing.
These are fashioned after antiques thimble keeps. These little keeps are multipurpose; the area that the thimble fits in is filled with emery to sharpen your needles, pins can be held on each end and the flap the hangs down holds needles and then wraps round the keep and is secured with a tie that twists around the button. Of course they are distressed and stained to look old.
They each contain a thimble which is new, but can easily replaced with ones favorite thimble. The prototype is sitting in a bowl of pin keeps in my living room holding my Grandfathers thimble from when he ran a hat and alteration shop.
I will be putting these up for sale on the website later this evening, so stop by and take a look.

Hi Carmen and Jean,
I love those thimble keeps ! Quaint and useful !
I noticed on your prior post about the Civil War Battle in Franklin. I just finished reading the book, Widow of the South. It is about the Carnton Plantation and the private cemetary where the Civil War soldiers are buried and the woman who had taken care of them.
Hugs,
Linda
Hi Tricia,
Yes the Smokies are very lovely. TN varies quite a bit from area to area, but each part is beautiful. While this summer we are getting quite a warm spell the winters are very mild, but still get the change of seasons so best of both worlds. I think that you will be happy in your choice. Let me know if I can do any thing for you.
Carmen
Hi Linda,
Thanks for the comments, next time I'm out I will get a picture of the Carrington House and post it so you can see it for yourself. They have reenactments on the grounds of the Carrington Plantation in the fall, it is quite a neat experiance to see all of the soldiers, horses and cannons. I'm just glad that it is just acting as that battle was quite bloody.
Have a good 4th.
The thimble keeps are fabulous - I just love them !!!!!!!
